DSHS Foster Parents Page - A site dedicated to providing information about the foster care system as well as the services available to foster parents throughout the state.

Governor's Scholarship Program
for Washington Youth in State-recognized Foster, Group and Kinship Care

Office of the Family and Children's Ombudsman - This site is dedicated to the Ombudsman's office which is to serve as an independent voice for families and children who are placed under the state's supervision due to allegations or findings of child abuse or neglect. OFCO also serves as a health and safety monitor for children who are in the state's custody.

Washington Education Foundation.
To provide economically disadvantaged and underrepresented students the educational and financial incentives necessary to enroll in the colleges and universities of their choice and to successfully complete four-year degree programs.

The Children’s Bureau (CB) is the oldest federal agency for children and is located within the United States Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families, Administration on Children, Youth and Families. It is responsible for assisting States in the delivery of child welfare services - services designed to protect children and strengthen families.

Bethany Christian Services of the Northwest ministers to children and families throughout our communities - confidential birth parent counseling; adoptions (within USA, Foster Adopt and internationally); home studies and Foster Care (training, support and children placements)

Innovative Services NW....A non-profit providing therapy, daycare, employment services, crisis intervention, and social services for children and adults with disabilities and the socially disadvantaged.

The Island County Foster Care Passport Program's purpose is to compile and organize significant birth and health history on children placed in Foster Care for more than 90 days.

Recruiting Agencies/Information

Open Arms Campaign is a Seattle area non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to the recruitment of foster and adoptive homes. We hope that the information will encourage you to get involved in the lives of "our" children.

Children's Home Society of Washington has served Washington state's children and families for more than 100 years, by providing adoption support services, family support and parent education, early childhood development, school-based services, advocacy, counseling and out-of-home care.

Other organizations

Cascadia Resource Exchange is a division of Northwest Resource Associates, a 501c3 non-profit agency. We are devoted to providing useful resources for people working with service agencies. 

Child Advocacy Central educates lay people and practitioners, enabling them to advocate effectively on behalf of the children they work with.
 

The Children's Alliance. is a statewide, member based advocacy organization dedicated to improving the safety, security, health and education of Washington's children.

Connect for Kids

A resource for information about children and programs for children. Connect for Kids provides an email newsletter to keep people informed about the issues facing children and families on state and national levels.

Foster Youth Central encourages adolescents in the foster care system to learn about the system designed to help them, allowing them to be more effective and forceful advocates for themselves.

Make a Difference in a Child's Life.  A Manual for helping Children and Youth Get What They Need in School.  Advocating for children and youth who are out of home or in foster care.  

National Foster Parents Association - The NFPA is the national voice for foster parents and provides services to individual states to improve the services to foster parents throughout the country. NFPA holds an annual training conference in late April or May.

One Church, One Child of Washington State (dba) UJIMA Community Services, is unique African American non-profit, non-sectarian agency with the primary mission of supporting children of African descent (especially those within the Washington State foster care system) and their families.
