Capital Kids Connection (CKC) of Cowlitz County’s mission is to support licensed foster homes in Cowlitz County. The support that we provide allows foster families to network for the benefit of gaining resources and knowledge from other families. We offer fun events for foster families to enjoy such at Harvest and Christmas parties. One of our extremely successful events is “Kid’s Night” where the children in a foster home are able to participate in fun evening activities sponsored by local community organizations. In addition, “Kid’s Night” is a retention opportunity for foster parents to enjoy 3 hours of free childcare.
To facilitate these events, CKC teams with community business to provide needed services and items for foster families. Whether the support arrives through connections made at CKC events or through donations of goods that help each child in foster care, CKC strives to fill in the missing pieces that are not offered or available from the state.
One of our yearly fundraisers is “Walk Me Home…to the place I belong”, a national 5K walk recognized and supported by the National Foster Parent Association (NFPA) and Foster Parents Association of WA State (FPAWS).
